With the onset of cold weather comes the season of spending evenings with your favorite hobby. Someone likes to embroider panels, someone to sew patchwork quilts, but most of all, probably, knitting lovers. It is a very exciting activity to create clothes, blankets and even toys from a ball of yarn.
In winter, it's nice to work with fluffy, soft types of yarn, imagining how the future thing will warm in cold weather. Among the variety of knitting materials, plush yarn is becoming increasingly popular. It is simply created in order to knit cozy things that surround with tenderness and warmth.
The composition of plush yarn
Plush or velour yarn is most often of synthetic origin, consists of a micropolyester. No less popular are types of yarn with acrylic, viscose and cotton.
1) With acrylic. Yarn with acrylic retains its appearance and shape best during wear, tolerates washing well and does not lose color during prolonged exposure to the sun.
2) With viscose. With careful handling, viscose things do not lose their shape for a long time, but they are afraid of ultraviolet rays and machine washing.
3) With cotton. Despite the advantages of natural breathable fabrics, yarn with a cotton base requires more delicate handling, after washing the thing can deform. It is less wear-resistant Among the types of velour there are many mixed artificial and natural fibers, for example, flax and lurex.
Plush yarn is the main threads on which a soft, dense pile is evenly wound. Yarn from different manufacturers may differ in pile length or texture. Such a material has the property of being well painted, so it is presented in a wide range of colors.
Characteristics of plush and velour yarn
Despite the fact that velour is basically an artificial material, a number of undeniable advantages allow the use of yarn for children's clothing. It differs from other artificial fibers in remarkable qualities:
1 ) the thread is strong enough and forms a homogeneous web of the same density when knitting;
2) the plush thing is soft and velvety to the touch;
3) safe for allergy sufferers and delicate baby skin;
4) clothing made of this material absorbs moisture and is able to pass air;
5) a variety of colors, uniform and persistent procrastination.
Knitting lovers know that velour yarn can be used to create a pattern of any complexity. The connected thing will look textured and retain a relief pattern. Models of clothes made of it look neat and beautiful in the process of wearing and even after numerous washes.
Some types of velour yarn have one drawback – the product stretches over time, so it is recommended to add a reinforcing thread.
